Carrie Laws from our Plymouth office has been shortlisted as ‘Supporter of the Year’ in the Advocacy National Awards for the support she has given to the Plymouth Parent Advocacy Project (PPAP).
The award focuses on people who do not directly deliver advocacy but who contribute to and improve standards within the sector.
Carrie has been a staunch and active supporter of PPAP for several years. “Without them, there would be many more parents who wouldn’t have autonomy in decisions affecting their lives – they would be severely disadvantaged,” she explained.
She is delighted that PPAP is also a finalist in the same awards, in the category for ‘Most Outstanding Advocacy Service’.
So far, Carrie has raised over £6,000 for PPAP – and she has made a commitment to get this figure to £10,000 in 2020.
Amongst the fundraising events she’s been involved with are an Autumn ball, Classic Quarter 44-mile coastal run; London Marathon; charity quiz and a half marathon.
Carrie will find out if she has won at the awards ceremony which will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Birmingham NEC on October 30, the evening before the National Advocacy Conference.
Whatever the outcome, The Family Law Company has just announced that Carrie is to be promoted to a Senior Associate position on November 1.
Good luck Carrie!
