Five Plymouth law firms have joined forces to ensure that a programme, which is designed to educate and empower victims who have experienced, or are at risk of, domestic abuse, can go ahead.
The Family Law Company, GA Solicitors, Wolferstans, Woollcombe Yonge and Nash & Co. have all made a significant donation to cover the cost of 200 books used in Plymouth Domestic Abuse Services’ (PDAS) Freedom programme.
The ten-week course is crucial for victims, allowing them to identify abusive relationships and understand the resulting impact on both them and their children.
Sue Collins, deputy local service manager at PDAS, added: “We are delighted to have received these donations from all five law firms, allowing us to work with women in a safe and confidential setting and to help them break the cycle of abusive relationships which many find themselves in.”
