Experienced mediator, Norman Hartnell was engaged to work with a couple who were attempting to resolve their differences in relation to the financial aspects of the divorce having spent many thousands of pounds through their solicitors. The assets included a business with a national brand. The couple also owned properties of a complicated nature.
In the course of two meetings that involved each person having legal and financial advice, and with Norman’s assistance, the husband and wife were able to find a solution that worked well for both of them. This provided the structure that their respective lawyers could then commit to legal documentation. The two mediation meetings cost a tiny fraction of the sum that both parties would have had to spend on lawyers ‒ quite apart from the expense, delay and polarisation of their positions that court proceedings would have involved.
Norman’s own experience in running a business as well as being an experienced family lawyer was vital to helping the parties finding a successful resolution to their differences.
