When I joined The Family Law Company (TFLC) in 2016 as an associate solicitor, I never imagined how much I would, thanks to the belief my peers have had in me, grow in my legal career and become a director. That’s one thing that singles us out from the others -here, you genuinely have the support to thrive.
I’m proud to lead the children and domestic abuse team, focusing on representing children in complex and sensitive cases, including care proceedings. I have also developed a specialism in handling cases involving honour based abused.
TFLC’s reputation for excellence means we’re entrusted by parents and Guardians with some of the most intricate cases. Every day is challenging but incredibly interesting. At TFLC you are working alongside some of the best minds in family law which pushes you to continually improve. That’s one of the things I value most about this firm—the people you work with challenge you to be better.
Perhaps a good recent example is being encouraged to put myself forward for Family Law Partner of the Year at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2024. It always feels a bit awkward selling yourself but it was 100% worth it. I was shortlisted among eight outstanding family lawyers and was delighted when I won.
Of course, you need the right environment to thrive. We have clear values and expectations, everyone’s door is open; we support hybrid working and provide training (both in house and external). No idea is silly – if you have an idea -share it -we love to hear it. We many have different mechanisms for doing so like on our digital suggestion box on our intranet and our quarterly employee survey.
I’m passionate about paying it forward and now helping colleagues grow in their legal career too. I took on the responsibility for Training and Development when I joined the board. Watching team members rise through the ranks and achieve their goals is one of my greatest achievements. At TFLC, if you’re ready to invest in your career, the opportunities to thrive are endless.
