After working in family law for nearly three decades in various family law roles—including running my own practice in the Midlands—I joined The Family Law Company (TFLC) in 2023. My experience has shown me the contrast between good firms and bad ones, and I can confidently say TFLC is one of the greats.
Family law is a demanding and challenging practice area. It requires not only legal expertise but also resilience, empathy, and support. What makes TFLC unique is their understanding of these demands. As a large, specialist family law business, they offer a 360-degree perspective on the sector, giving us lawyers the tools, respect, and understanding needed to shine.
For instance, they lead the way in implementing trauma-informed practices, which ensures clients are treated with care and sensitivity. They’ve also created a dedicated and award-winning new client team to provide seamless support, allowing lawyers to focus on the law and client outcomes. They also have a strong support team to help with the administration and the operations side of family law.
I’m particularly passionate about mentoring the next generation of lawyers, something I do through my work with Exeter University. TFLC shares this commitment to professional development, offering a range of opportunities for colleagues to grow and explore different career paths within family law.
Perhaps what I appreciate most is the trust and respect the firm places in its team. There’s no micromanagement—just genuine, lovely people creating a supportive workplace. For anyone in family law, TFLC truly stands out as an enjoyable place to work.
The last 12 months or so have been a pleasure, not an endurance.
