The Family Law Company is pleased to announce two trainees have completed their training to become fully qualified solicitors.
Melissa Mitchell and Jasmine Galvin have very different backgrounds that have brought them into law.
For Melissa, who had a successful career in training and education, this has been a huge step change later in life. The move was informed by her own life experiences which made her realise that her skills were highly transferable and could really benefit family law clients.
Melissa explains “I found myself in a situation where I had to represent myself in court, which resulted in a positive outcome. It was my solicitor who suggested I thought about moving into law, so I have much to thank her for!”
She started with The Family Law Company in Exeter as a legal administrator in June 2021, becoming a paralegal within three months in the Children and Domestic Abuse Team. After finishing her LPC she successfully applied for a training contract in 2022 and qualified in on March 1.
Jasmine joined The Family Law Company’s Plymouth office in 2020 as a paralegal specialising in private law children and domestic abuse cases. In March 2022 she was named one of Plymouth’s ’30 under 30’ by Plymouth and Devon’s Chamber of Commerce and began her training contract later that year.
During her time with the firm, Jasmine says she has felt incredibly well supported. “I’ve been able to hone my skills amidst some brilliant legal minds who have not only shared their knowledge but also invested their time and faith in nurturing mine, taking the time to train, advise, and support all aspects of my development.” Jasmine also received her qualification on March 1.
The Family Law Company’s Joint MD, Rachel Buckley says “It’s been a real privilege to watch Melissa and Jasmine blossom during their time with us; their diverse skills and experience are enriching the expertise of our talented divorce and finance team.
“We’re all about giving people opportunities and encouraging them to reach high. Melissa and Jasmine have done just that, and we’re delighted for them both.”
