First Cornwall based Shareholder for family law specialist

The Family Law Company is firming up its regional presence with the appointment of its first Cornwall-based Shareholder, Lucy Theobald.

Lucy initially joined the company in July 2021 to spearhead the company’s strategy of expansion into the county, adding to the long-term bases in Exeter and Plymouth.

Her experience of over 20 years as a specialist in family law matters including divorce and finance, children matters and domestic abuse provided a strong foundation for the expansion, leading to the establishment of a permanent office in Truro in November 2022.

Under Lucy’s direction, and with her deep understanding of the particular needs of the Cornish community, the team has since grown to include Legal Executive Natalie Symons, Trainee Legal Executive Sophie Kneebone and Trainee Legal Executive Jade Bevan, with additional support from Solicitor Deborah Cahill who splits her time between the Plymouth and Truro offices.

Lucy said: “My decision to join The Family Law Company three years’ ago has led to a really clear and positive new career path for me. I’m delighted to become Shareholder and to be able to concentrate on providing top level family law advice to clients in my home county of Cornwall.”

In her new role, Lucy will have a particular responsibility as Head of the Truro office and Cornwall growth.

Joint-MD Norman Hartnell added: “It is a real pleasure to welcome Lucy to the Board. From the day she started, we were confident that she would have a real impact on our business.

“Being able to offer on the ground, specialist family law services to clients in a region that has its own identity in terms of rurality and remoteness has proved a positive move, and much of that is down to Lucy’s commitment.”
