The Family Law Company is delighted to announce that our founder and Managing Director Norman Hartnell has been announced Legal Hero of the Year in the Devon and Somerset Law Society Awards 2018.
The criteria for the Legal Hero category stated:
Legal ‘Heroes’ make a real difference to their clients. We are looking for nominees who will champion other people’s cases. Nominees will demonstrate:
Exceptional dedication and commitment to their clients
Determination to see the end result
Great results that make a difference
Absolute professionalism
We felt that Norman met the criteria spot on. He has been working to change the face of family law for the better since he founded Hartnell & Co way back in 1991. Through various changes to the company and a rebrand to The Family Law Company out of Hartnell Chanot in 2013, Norman has stuck with his core principles.
He believes wholeheartedly that family law should be less combative and more empathetic with the needs of families, particularly children.
Norman has a reputation in legal circles as a kind-hearted man, but not a pushover (he has been referred to as a ‘Rottweiler’ when chasing the right outcomes for clients).
His philosophy has made him one of the preferred solicitors in the region for complex family issues and he has received hundreds of referrals from organisations such as Splitz, SAFE, Only Mums Only Dads and Devon Family Solutions.
Norman was put forward for the award without being aware of it. He was unable to attend the event after it was rescheduled due to snow earlier in the year as he was on holiday. However, he was informed of the award via FaceTime by his very excited colleagues! It was the first he knew of the award, and it was an emotional moment.
We are all very proud of our MD, mentor and friend. Congratulations Norman, you are our Legal Hero too.
