In this case, the wife was abused financially by her husband, living, with her children, in poverty. The children did not even have mattresses to sleep on.
The Family Law Company obtained information from the husband regarding his financial position so we could advise his wife about her entitlement. We discovered that the husband was saving money and had received an inheritance. He had, in total, around £500,000 in capital assets.
We went on to negotiate a settlement, and, as a result, the wife was able to purchase a property for herself and the children and their standard of living improved significantly.
